December Tragedies Met With Heart

This is an email that Channel G recieved from Kia Ingenlath, Executive Director of Casa De Milagros, during the holiday season of  2004.  This email so clearly shows the beautiful strength that guides Casa De Milagros through tremendous difficulty with great compassion and humility.

so sorry for the lack of communication..with christmas and a party for 300 kids and two school parties and then on christmas eve the mountain fell on our pueblo and burried some of our neighbors..little milagros 8 yrs was carrying the doll on her back that we had given her the day before at our party she was buried in the mud along with her grandmother..so the mountain fell onto our resavoir and we haven't had water since just what we can haul in and with 35 people in the house it's never enough. the whole village does not have water...oh my hard to live without water...but in spite of all the hardship the children had a wonderful christmas..the oldre kids helped with the rescue attempts but the little guys really didn't know what was happening..they played with their balls and blissfully went to sleep that night.
so be glad your not sitting next to me right now haven't bathed since christmas..ha!!! so please forgive the no communication..we also don't have internet at our home just in our pueblo..it's a 45 min walk and a 25 min bus ride...i hope your new year is filled with love, laughter, fun, and inner peace.
